True Talk spoke to young Palestinian writer Rawan Yaghi one of the contributors of the recently published book Gaza Writes Back short stories from young writers in Gaza, Palestine.
The book which is edited by Refaat Alareer is first of its kind. Gaza Writes Back records and commemorates, in fiction, the fifth anniversary of the full-scale military offensive Israel launched on Gaza between December 27, 2008 and January 18, 2009, the so-called “Operation Cast Lead”.
The stories were written by thirteen writers, only three of whom were male.
Rawan spoke about her life in Gaza, the story behind the book and read parts of her own story as well as one written by a young girl who Israel arbitrarily refused her permit to leave Gaza to tour the USA thought she obtained a US visa.
